Way to go, you've reached Squamish!

Squamish is situated at the head of Howe Sound and is the centre of the Vancouver/Georgia Strait area, where 47 percent of all vessel movements in Canada occur.
Squamish's location on Highway 99 allows direct access to the Lower Mainland of BC to the south, to the Interior of BC to the north and east. Squamish is 66 km north of Vancouver, 289 km north of Seattle, Washington and 58 km south of Whistler. It is accessible by car, train, bus and air.
Squamish has 6 elementary and 2 highschools. Capilano College has a satellite campus located in Squamish. There are a complete range of health services as well as a general hospital. There are over 30 service and 20 sports clubs operating in town. There is also an art gallery, a railway museum, a native cultural centre, a community theatre and churches of all denominations.
squamish's economic base is supported by a diverse group of well established industries. A few of these include Woodfibre, Squamish Terminals and BC Railway. Products are shipped from the interior of the province by rail and then by ship from Squamish to all over the world.
Squamish offers a variety of services, retail shops and restaurants to meet the needs of the community and visitors.
Squamish has a diverse group of recreational activities, including an 18 hole golf course, indoor swimming pool and skating facilities. Canoeing, kayaking and white water rafting are also popular.
Squamish offers some of the best rock climbing opportunities in the world. There are over 600 different established climbs in the area. The "Chief" a 700 metre high solid mountain of granite is the second highest monolith in the Commonwealth-second only to the Rock of Gibraltar. Mountain biking and windsurfing are also extremely popular here. There are many hiking trails in the vicinity.
Squamish is home to a nesting ground for the bald eagle. Hundreds of these spectacular birds can be seen soaring over the local rivers. There is an active bird watching organization in Squamish. They get together once a month to do a count of all the bird species in our area.
Squamish has it's own radio staton, Mountain FM, CISQ107.1 in Squamish, and a weekly newspaper named "The Chief".
Squamish has much more to offer. Come visit with us. The scenery alone on the Sea to Sky highway is well worth the trip.
